They're switching all terrestrial signals off starting up in the highlands of Scotland, working their way down to parts of the country people actually live in... I'm not sure what the policy is here, but I think older people and those on low incomes can receive a free digital box thingy. A lot of people use a paid for satellite service here in the UK called SKY. Only very few people use cable (mostly provided by Virgin) as the channels on offer isn't as good as satellite. Oh, and if you think your gov is stupid, our gov makes us pay £150 a year for a tv 'license' which mainly goes to paying for the BBC. What happens if you don't want to watch the BBC or listen to BBC radio stations and want to watch satellite channels instead (which costs £30-50 a month on its own)? You still have to pay the license, or you face a fine, criminal conviction and possible prison sentence. Now that's Dumb for ya!
