Dummies Smart Changes!

I am nearing the two year anniversary of Dummies of the Year! and I thought it was about time I did some renovating.  Check out below on how I plan on improving the site.

Editing All Posts

This is my most unfavorite part of the renovation.  I am editing links so they don’t open in a new window, stripping tags down to a few per post and adding meta data to each post via All in One SEO Pack.

Less Categories

Over the last two years I have accumulated way too many categories.  Once you have 20 categories and two of them are called “News” and “Media” you know it is time to focus!

The following are the revised categories:

1. Blog Promo: Anytime I mention another person’s site or if I mention my site, like in this post, I will use this category.

2. Famous Interviews: If you’ve been following Dummies for a while you now that I mock interview celebrities via Clever Bot.

3. Half-Baked Decisions: Somebody does something not very well thought out and I find out, I’ll say something here.

4. How To Do Everything: Want to know how to do something?  I’ll share it in this category.

5. Polls: I have a multiple choice question and you give an answer.

6. Organic: The titles of these posts are pulled from my organic traffic.

Monday: Famous Interviews

Tuesday: Half-Baked Decisions

Wednesday: Organic

Thursday: Half-Baked Decisions

Friday: Poll

Updated About Page

For once the About Page is simple and clear.  I am not 100 % satisfied with it but for now it get’s the job done.

New Sneeze Pages

I got this tip from Darren Rowse from his site Pro Blogger.  A sneeze page is a page that helps lead your readers to useful posts without them having to search for them.  My sneeze page links are at the bottom of the about page.

New Logo Design

I am loving the new header and new subscribe button!  These were provided by Chad O’Bryhim.  One of his favorite hangout spots is Reddit NFL.
