Overwhelming Blog Post
Let’s say you write an eye appealing title for your blog post. Get this done and the reader will stick around for at least 5 seconds. The next tip may get them to read the post.
This tip is super simple. Do not write big paragraphs. I try to stay a little less than two lines long in the Add New Post area. Once I reach this limit I hit enter. This may go against what you learned in comp class but do it anyway.
Don’t Do This
Look at the photo below. This is an example of how not to write a blog post. I could have said the same thing but had maybe 5 or 6 small paragraphs instead of 2 large ones.

Do This Instead
Now look at this photo. I wrote this in easy to read short paragraphs.
This is just one idea. There are still numerous ideas we can apply to our blog posts so that they are more readable to our audience.

Draw pretty pictures.
Seems to be working out for you quite well. To bad I can’t draw. I have to rely on my
crappyawesome articlesShorter is better. Especially these days. Since the average attention span is probably less than this sentence. Oh, shiny red ball! Gotta go!
I’m always getting replaced with shiny red balls… wait
It will soon be that anything beyond a tweet will be considered to be a novel.
Probably. I want my tutorial posts to be long but readable with lots of bullet points.
Fun posts can be long as long as they are readable.
Ain’t that the truth, Ahmnodt!
I tend to inject little naughty pics to move things along. No really, your idea is good. I also use shorter sentences!
Naughty pics? Like people robbing banks?
Thanks for believing in the idea.
Oh, I do love to write a long paragraph from time to time. But I do try to throw in funny or pretty pictures in for good measure. I love the one you used on this post–I have a similar b&w tree photo on my own blog.
If one makes it long then they should make it funny.
Thanks for the comment Ghetto Girl.
I don’t really know why but if I come across a long post with long paragraphs, especially if there are no pictures to break it up, even if it is interesting I tend to just skim over it without reading it properly. I try to avoid repeating what I don’t like comimg across in other blog posts. These are great tips Mel, thanks a lot I will try to implement
I think most of us skim. I actually skim less nowadays. If the content is too chunky I usually just move along.
I use to be king of chunky blog post.
This post re-caught my eye from the “You May Also Like” section. I just am in awe of that tree photo. Truly amazing photo.
I think our brain sees large blocks of text & subconsciencely thinks it’s just too much to read. The same quantity in small paragraphs just seems a lot less effort to get through.
A good post! I’ll bare this in mind for future posts
