For some reason, humans are obsessed with our own mortality, the thing with the Mayans plays into the fact that we are special, that there is a deeper understanding of life that we can't even understand. Same goes for religion, after all, who wants to believe that we are just another meaningless organism in a meaningless state of existence, for absolutely no reason? Well, my ex-girlfriend might want to, but she is the exception not the rule

i think it COULD happen. there are many ways the world could end… im not sure if the date is correct? BUT it will happen one day and it will b on a day that NO ONE will ever see it comming… a nice sunny day when it seems like things are going good…..BAM!! well thats wut i think. i just try not to think about it. and enjoy life to the fullest now. thats all.

Agreed-The film does look good(check it out at whowillsurvive2012)from a sci-fi and entertainment point of view.Looking thru the net there are 242000000(!)results for the end of the world 2008-so I am really wondering what happened to the film on that one-lol!
But wait!-there are prophesies for the end of the world in 2010,2020,2024,2027,2029 etc,etc,etc………so some good stuff to come out of the various publishing houses there-and all on sale to the gullible-all eager to snap up this kind of “claptrap”-at enourmous “prophet”(lol) to the writers and follwers of this nonesense.

And-oh what a surprise!2012 the Movie to be released shortly.Should be a big moneymaker!
So it would seem that we have all “been had” again by the hysterical outbursts of the prophets of doom!

Come on all you people out there-don’t believe all the garbage spouted about the “end of the world”.

In any case-people have been making money out of scaring people to death for centuries.
“Mother Shipton” a so called prophetess from Yorkshire England,coined a rhyme-well known at the time-That “the end of the world will come,in eighteen ‘undred and eighty one”-of course when it didn’t her cronnies just added ten years on etc etc……
As for the Mayan “prophesy” it depends how you read it-and is it a prophesy at all-who translated it?-What was their agenda?
No,I don’t buy it-and when I am at home on Christmas Day 2012 I will pray for all of you out there who have been so frightened.
