@ mulmout: Thanks for you comment. I actually don't think it's a big deal to have the phrase on our money, though I would be part of the 92%. If they took it off I don't think it would bother me. I trust in God not because it is on my money.

Would it be okay if they wanted to change it to "In God Most Trust"? ;)
I think we should keep it. It helps us remember why people came to America in the first place. Religious Freedom.
the ques is, is the phrase 'in god we trust' on money a matter of principle or popularity? if its popularity, then 92% wins; if its a matter a principle, then that is a different quesiton, and a more interesting one. Hardly anyone would argue that the phrase 'in christ we trust' or 'in mohamed we trust' or 'in budda we trust' is a statement of religion, and should be banned, but does the phrase 'in god we trust' represent something more? a cultural norm? roy
