Juan Williams, who worked for NPR at the time, was a guest on the The O’Reilly Factor when he said these words,
Political correctness can lead to some kind of paralysis where you don’t address reality. I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous. Now, I remember also that when the Times Square bomber was at court, I think this was just last week. He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts.
Juan Williams was fired by National Public Radio because of the above quote. Fired!? By firing Juan, essentially NPR told him that he is unique in that he does not have any rights to free speech.
Liberals Are Muslim Sensitive
Who attacked us on September 11, 2001? Was it Muslims? I am going to say no. Because to say it was Muslims is incomplete. Most Muslims I know are family oriented. They desire peace not terror.
So who attacked us? Muslim extremist.
Maybe we should be sensitive toward Muslims but since Americans have free of religion shouldn’t we should also be sensitive toward, Christians, Buddhists, Atheists and all other religions?

He deserved to be fired, but not because of what he said. He deserved to be fired from NPR because NPR receives federal funds. I support free speech and I would be against the firing if he said it on a privately-owned station.
People have the right to free speech, but they don't have the right to have taxpayers fund it.

I am kind of on the line about what you said. NPR is funded by taxpayers correct? (Seriously seeing if I understood you correctly).
So if this is the case he said what he said while employed by NPR but he said it on the FOX channel.
Maybe the real issue is whether or not Juan Williams is to good for NPR.
