“Livefyre is changing the way people interact with publisher content. Designed for the social web, Livefyre replaces static comment sections with dynamic, real-time conversations that empower users and help build hyper-active communities.” ~Livefyre
New Commenting System
Why?
- Some of have told me that you have to keep filling out the form when making comments.
- Livefyre allows one to sign in via Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, OpenID, and Livefyre. One click and you are good to go.
- It’s like Facebook and Google+ in that it promotes real time comments! . The end result is a conversation instead of just a monolog.
- You can now tag somebody right in the post.
- Comments can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
Give and Take
I am going to remove the Top Commenters widget. I will still reward top commenters with free ads, but I will keep track of you in the dashboard.
There are two reason I am going to remove this widget:
1. Because of Livefyre, you no longer receive a link to your site in the top commenters widget.
2. You will receive a link to your site via each post!! At the top of the comments there is a section called “People Listening.” If you have commented on the post, your picture will appear next to the words “people listening.” You picture links back to your website!
I know that everybody hates change but I hope in time you will enjoy the Livefyre Commenting System. Let me know what you think in the comments.
PS: 3 years ago today, I created Dummies of the Year.

Happy Blog Birthday, Mel
@duncanr Thank you Duncan!
Hey Mel,
We’re happy to have ya! Shoot us any questions you have, we’re here for whatever you need!
Hey Mel,
We’re happy to have ya! Shoot us any questions you have, we’re here for whatever you need!
@JMattHicks Thanks a ton
@Scholar Mel And, btw, Happy 3 Year Blogging Anniversary! (I thought that I said that in the comment above…apparently I didn’t!)
@JMattHicks I think Livefyre is a nice present for my site
Thanks again!
I’m looking forward to you comments. I love them!
I hate change.
The first time commenting was kind of a pain.
The second time I forgot what I did the first time, and it was kind of a pain again.
Though once I remembered, it seemed to work okay.
I hope the third time will be less painful.
Otherwise I might sue for chocolate compensation.
@Binky I didn’t have guest posting on. That is the “easiest” way for somebody to leave a comment. Though I am not sure how difficult it really is to sign in with Twitter or whatever.
I personally prefer having/signing in with my Livefyre account.
You should sue me for chocolate! I live in Europe where they make the real stuff, not that waxy American stuff.
@Scholar Mel Your suit is in the mail!
Mmm…chocolate!
@Binky Took me a while to put suit and sue together. My brain must be running low on chocolate.
@Scholar Mel I’m always running low on chocolate.
@Binky@Scholar Mel Hey, that chocolate suit would be a good match for my birthday one.
I was wondering if the last post link is tied to the blog url in profile. Hopefully a bit more usage with the system will make this clear to all users, whether they are guests are folks with Livefyre profiles.
I am still clueless (<– is that how one spells that? I didn't get a red squiggly) when it comes to Google+
It took me forever to figure out Twitter and I still don't use it properly. All social media platforms are for building relationships more than anything else.
You don't know how an RSS feed works? I prefer using feedburner email subscription myself.
Happy blogoversary, Mel!
(I’m still a bit embarrassed about the prior ‘incident’.)
@SpilledInkGuy It’s okay, you can wish me a happy birthday any day you want.
I’m interested to see how easy it will be to use Livefyre. I’m presently with Intense Debate, but I hear a bit of grumbling form some readers that there’s certain degrees of difficulty using that format.
@AddanacCity I have used intensedebate , disqus, wordpress and now livefyre
I had issues with comments not showing up on Intense Debate, Disqus caused a duplicate comment issue, readers have had to enter their info every time they want to post with the regular wordpress comments.
I think there is always something that can go wrong. We just have to choose which is best for us… and I suppose the readers
@Scholar Melintensedebatedisqus,wordpresslivefyre This seems to be working pretty good thus far. Kudos!
@AddanacCityintensedebatedisqus,wordpresslivefyre I love to tag everything in my comments!!
@AddanacCity I noticed that you have a Livefyre account. I suggest filling out your profile and linking your website. I have “share your latest post” on my site.
So when you comment it should share your latest post.
@Scholar Mel I try to sign in for it, but it won’t approve me. I don’t know why. I think I’m inputting the correct password.
Happy anniversary to “Dummies of the Year” and Scholar Mel from the entire Ahmnodt Heare for President campaign team!
@Ahmnodt Heare Wow, you have my endorsement Ahmnodt!!
@Miss R I am really enjoying the tagging. Also, I have been able to eliminate 4 or 5 plugins. Plugins are a nice feature with a self-hosted blog but too many can make the site run slower.
Oh, and thank you for the congrats
@AddanacCity Maybe request new password. Just use the same one for everything like Binky does.
@Binky uses chocolate for every password.
@AddanacCity@Binky Speechless… no wait! Yuck!
awesome! coni
@conniecconi Me or Livefyre?
I just signed up for a Livefyre account. I haven’t had a single issue with Disqus so far. Intense Debate caused me some problems when I tried that on TM Comics. I don’t know why but people are reluctant to sign up for a Disqus profile which would make their commenting even easier as once they’re logged in they don’t need to keep filling out the fields. Hope this one works ok for you Mel. OK here goes my 1st comment as a registered Livefyre user.
@Tony McGurk Okay, so you signed up and it looks like you filled out your profile.
I only see one problem. Where is your latest post link? Hmm… I just looked at the comment I left you and it didn’t leave a link. I’ll have to go see if it is turned on.
disqus is a fine comment system. But so far I am most pleased with livefyre
Oh, and I really do need to register with disqus because I keep filling out the form on your site.
Me presonally I love the livefyre comments. Ithink is much better like disquss. I am planning to install it on my brand new site about mangaka and anime!
This is something that should stand out a bit more on the interface to allow users to know what it is. Hoping this becomes one of the improvements over time.
