What Is A Tag?
Tags help search engines and visitors know what your blog is about. (Please feel free to add to or redefine this).
WordPress Users
This one is simple. Instead of making a link just a link in your post you could make your link a tag.
Eaxmple:
Let’s say I am writing about the topic of Brett Favre and the fact that he is a fickle pickle. Well I have written at least two other posts about him so this would be a good time to link to one of those posts.
Here is how I may do it:
Brett Favre is such a fickle pickle that he has come out of retirement again.
My tag is “he has come out of retirement again.” If you hover over the tag you will see that I put “Brett Favre has come out of retirement again.”
How do you do this?
Decide what your tag will be in your sentence. Then use this code in the HTML when creating your post:
<a title=”Brett Favre has come out of retirement again” rel=”tag” href=”http://dummiesoftheyear.com/2009/08/20/brett-favre-unretires-again/”>he has come out of retirement again</a>
The HTML code is self explanatory but I will try to explain just in case.
- Your tag (what will be visable in the post) goes toward the end of the code. You noticed I used he has come out of retirement again.
- Next where it says title= put whatever you want that relates to the tag. Most of the time I use the same exact thing as the tag. You will notice that I changed it slightly from he has come out of retirement again to Brett Favre has come out of retirement again.
- Lastly enter the address to the link in its appropriate location.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
