Michael Phelps Apologizes For Smoking Pot

Now I See Why He Turned To Drugs
There is a picture that surfaced showing Phelps smoking pot. That was really dumb. But I think a prerequisite to success is taking drugs. Arnold took steroids, the former and current president have taken cocaine, Dr. House takes Vicadone. All is well though because Phelps immediately apologized for his youngness once the pictures were made public.
My Thoughts And Yours
So what are you thoughts about Phelps actions? Were they dumb because of who he is or are they dumb for everyone? Do you think taking drugs is a prerequisite to success?
A PRE-REQ for success??? LOL that is ridiculous! If you think Arnold, Phelps, Obama, and Dr. House are the only successful people out there you need to get out more. I don't mean to bash but that is a silly idea.
I totally agree :)
When I was in highschool I went to a vo-tech during school. My last year there, there were 15 of us. 13 out of 15 smoked weed during the breaks. Myself and another kid never did.
The one thing I noticed that weed does is make one a lazy butt. I lot of these young men were hard workers until they started to smoke weed. Once they experienced this that is all they wanted to do.
I know people belittle weed but it does have its down sides.
Should he lose his medals because of this? No. "If" he had been using steroids it would have been something to talk about.
The most dangerous thing about smoking marijuana is getting arrested. For that reason alone it is wrong. Marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes. Use of any mind altering substance to the point that it impairs the ability to function normally in society is harmful not only to the self and family but also to society as a whole.
If Phelps had been photographed drinking a cocktail there would have been no apology, or a need for one. He is apologizing because he broke the law.
Tetrahydra Cannibinol is not physically addictive. Alcohol and Nicotine are. Grass does not cause fatal traffic accidents. It does not cause heart disease, lung cancer, chirrosis of the liver, potentially fatal withdrawal symptoms, put people into homicidal rages and so on and so on and so on.
The mere fact of the illegality of this recreational drug creates a MULTITUDE of social problems vastly disproportionate to its actual harmful effects. Any drug taken recreationaly has a chance of being dangerous. But in comparison to alcohol and nicotine it's like eating chocolate (which incidentally causes more physical problems than THC too.)
I say legalize and regulate it. If you need something else to make illegal to take its place, come back and ask me. I have a suggestion or two.
Rant over. :D
LOL, I'm really tired :P Sorry about that. I was just reading the one post (was browsing Phelps articles, not blogs!) and thought you were serious. Wasn't really looking at the full scope of things. Now that I'm looking around me, I like you blog!
Thanks for stopping by mine :)

i am now totally convinced that smoking weed is evil since it limited Phelps to winning only 8 gold medals in last year's Olympics
