(1) Nobody gets seriously hurt in the Pro Bowl. It doesn't count for anything, so nobody's flying around looking to decapitate people. (2) Obviously, if you're playing in the Super Bowl a week later, you won't be playing in the Pro Bowl. No player would even consider it. It doesn't really matter when they play the Pro Bowl. As it stands now, it is the unnecessary appendix to the NFL season that nobody cares about. This way, at least it gives us something to watch between the conference championships and the Super Bowl.
