Should David Letterman Be Fired?
Fire David Letterman
I added this poll because of a site I found Fire David Letterman.
David Letterman has been mean spirited from the beginning of his Late Show career, so no one should be surprised at his latest smear. Whenever you think his humor has reached the floor of the basement, he finds more space in the sub-basement.
I suggest that NBC passed on Letterman when it was a toss up between him and Jay Leno, precisely because of this flaw in his character and the fact that they did not want to associate with him.
The lowest common denominator does not begin to describe his recent comments about Sarah Palin's 14-year old daughter. Don Imus was fired for a similar lurid comment about young women. Imus' comment was off the cuff. Letterman's comment was scripted and the show was taped. It was not an accident and Letterman should be fired.
I personally don't think he would have admitted to sleeping with staff members if he didn't think it would bring in more ratings. he saw dollar signs. Seeing dollar signs is alright so long as it doesn't hurt anybody else.

O.K. Now that I found the comments Here we go.
David is a clown. He is a very rich and popular clown it is true, but he is STILL a clown. Anyone who takes anything he says seriously and especially with political bias needs to realize that they are assigning personal credibility to a clown.
I happen to find him an entertaining clown. If I didn't I would not watch him and I hope that others feel the same way. If you don't like what you see and hear then please remember that in addition to all the other buttons on your remote that there are two that serve special functions. One of them changes the channel and the other one turns the blame thing OFF!
The two comments above seem to be based on smoldering resentments about his crude joke inre Palin's daughter which I will not go into here, although I have elsewhere. The reason I will not go into it is because the two issues are unrelated in ANY way except that people are giving credibility to a CLOWN.
Just to highlight the knowledge that people have of the situation--CBS CANNOT fire Letterman. He doesn't WORK for CBS. He owns the show and the production company, Worldwide Pants, that owns the show. What they CAN do is not allow Worldwide pants to air The Late Show on their network.
Finally, this may be unwanted publicity by Letterman but it is STILL publicity. His rating before this had already shot past the Tonight Show when Leno left and looked like it was on a solid upward curve. Do you really think that all the negative talk about him will cause him to LOSE viewers? Grow up. His core audience doesn't care and the news and talk will draw more viewers into the show than he already has if for NO other reason just to see the clown about whom all the uproar is being generated.
If you don't like Letterman, don't watch. If you don't want to help his ratings, then stop helping him by generating FREE publicity for him.
I'm done.
Letterman needs to be fired for promoting the criminal abuse, rape, abduction, sex slavery, and prostitution of minor children around the world. His "joke" about the Palin's daughters being publicly raped by two adult men and derragatory remarks about Govenor Palin are highly offensive and inappropriate. Where is the joke in those hateful comments. Moreover, the fact that he claimed he was talking about the Palins 18 year old daughter versus their 14 year old daughter is, still, criminally offensive. In some states a child is not an adult until he or she reaches the age of 21. In fact, as a former D.C. police officer, I agree with Gov. Palin's comments about Lettermans comments. In additon, Letterman's comments about the Palin's daughters promotes sexual abuse, rape, abduction, sex slavery, and prostitution of innocent children around the world. Those are terrible crimes against children. Furthermore, the fact that Letterman thinks it is a "joke" to call a sitting republican or democratic U.S. governor a "slut" is disgraceful, disrespectful, and degrading! Gov. Palin has done nothing to deserve the name of "slut!" She is a respectable mother and a married woman. Moreover, Letterman never apologized for his crude and criminally offensive remarks, but continued to repeat the "jokes." He needs to be fired!! Also, Imus' racially offensive remarks does not compare to Letterman's comments promoting rape of a minor girl and disrespecting the office of the U.S. govenors.
