The best web hosting India company is CreedHost. I am using their services from last two years and never had any issues with the server speed or any other problems.

It's funny how baby names come round full circle. It seems amongst all my friends that traditional names are making a come back.

Argentina is one of the countries that only allows newborns to be named one of their approved names, and they have a list of these. I have been unsuccessful in finding this online.

I think the 20th century names are most popular..

I guess I came in nicely since my name is George William Ford. My wife kept thinking that was some boring pseudonym when we first met. She said, "There's no way that's your real name!".

Ha! I can't comment on that one guy who just wasn't good enough to make it to the big game. Still dig the posts though.

I kinda of like the modern names like Apple Peel Me A Banana. Come on really, who wants to be a Tom , Dick or Harry?

SpilledInkGuy 12 pts

Wow...

I would have been in the big-time in the 20's and 30's!

:)

SpilledInkGuy Okay, Robert John.

Any era but lately! Please name you're child something normal. Better yet don't have children. If you insist name the child something normal. What you think is an interesting name won't make the child interesting. Just warped. Also they'll hate you. ---Merret Curtis Miller

Binky 12 pts

ButterSword Yes, if you name your kids Binky, Winky, Twink, or Fraz, you'll be doing everyone a favor.

ButterSword 5 pts

Binky I'd kill to be named Fraz. :)

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Binky Hmm... I'm not so sure about that. ;-)

ButterSword I will name my child something much more normal than Scholar Mel.

I'll have to stick with the 20th century, especially the foremost of the boys' names. Then again, I'm kinda biased, for obvious reasons!

By the by, I'm told John means "Given by God". Guess even HE couldn't stand me! :D

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

John Erickson Maybe "Given by God" also means "Recommended by God"

:-)

This was a fun post to check out. We stuck with the traditional names for our kids and just spruced them up a bit with more modern nicknames. William-Will, James-Jay, Anna Katherine-Anna Kate. When their older they can adjust them if they want.

I am glad you enjoyed the post. I am really having fun with my new plugin (Easy Pagination for WordPress).

My real name is very traditional also. It made the list. And everybody thought my name was Scholar Mel. :-)

Hey Mel There's no comment form for the Tim Tebow post. I wanted to say that he looks like Hamish McLeod an Australian radio bloke

http://www.hamishandandy.com/

Tony McGurk

i couldn't find the comment form either. Tons of people land on my site searching for "Kate Middleton's armpits" or "Does Kate Middleton shave her armpits?" So, to add to your list of what Tim Tebow is searching for in a woman, I'd like to add...nice armpits.

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Tony McGurk Nancy! You're the reason I didn't leave a comment form ;-)

Seriously though, you're cracking me up :-D

Tony McGurk There was no comment form on purpose. ;-)

He does look a little like the Scottish named Australian bloke. :-)

Scholar Mel Hamish & Andy are absolutely hilarious blokes. I don't know if you had a look at some of their site content but it's well worth the effort.

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Tony McGurk I'll take a look. Is Hamish a common name in Australia? I know the name from the movie Braveheart.

My latest conversation: What Kind of Girl Does Tim Tebow Like?

Tony McGurk 6 pts

Scholar Mel I wouldn't say it's overly common. I wanted to call Angus Hamish but Michelle hated it. Angus was my 2nd choice. If I decided to change my name it would be Hamish 'cos I just really like it. Although McGurk's Irish not Scottish.

Scholar Mel P.S. I borrowed/stole/hijacked your header to use for my "Today's Featured Site" as I couldn't find a Dummies banner on your site anywhere.

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Tony McGurk Oh wow, you'd sound Scottish-Irish instead of New York Italian-Irish. :-)

Tony McGurk Not a problem. That's kind of funny because I also stole a screen shot of your site for a post that comes out tomorrow while I am 30,000 feet over the Atlantic.

Wow. nail on the head -again. Can't count the number of boys and girls I grew up with sporting the '1960's' names.

It's funny how many have stayed the same, or reappear, over the years. Not many Margarets anymore, nor Dorothys (my mother's name). So, tastes and times clearly change. Seems as your list gets closer to the current decades the less likely names are to re-appear. Hmmm when did parents begin calling their children with non-family names? For instance; my first name is Rachael, it was my mother's middle name and a great grandmother's first name.

Many of my contemporary friends also have their own traditional family monikers as their first or second name.

Just don't see that as much anymore.

Nifty piece Mel. thank you!

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Miss R Thank you for this very nice comment.

My wife and I plan on giving our children our first for their middle.

I noticed that for the first 50 years that the names were pretty consistent but then they start mixing a bit for the last 50. Boys stayed more consistent than the girls... but what's new ;-) (just kidding)

These sure are better than some of the wacky names that some celebrities give their kids. All the boy names were Kings of England too maybe that added to their popularity

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Tony McGurk Yeah I think they were all kings until we hit around the 50's. Then David becomes popular but I suppose he was a king also if we go back a few years :-)

Binky 12 pts

No Binky? That's hard to believe!

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Binky You are what we give the babies to suck on :-)

Surprisingly most of the boys names are still in vogue while the girls names are not.

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

But where are the Scholar Mel's and Bearman? Those names are the new John and Robert. :-)

Tony McGurk 6 pts

Scholar Mel Those names are common ones. We have the distinction of not being among the commoners

Scholar Mel 18 pts moderator

Tony McGurk Mel maybe, Bearman on the other hand.... I doubt it common Tony ;-)
