Top 5 Best Christmas Cartoons Of All Time

Charlie Brown Christmas

This is the very best Christmas cartoon of all time.  Charlie Brown may be a blockhead but he has an affectionate heart.  So much so that he takes pity on a dying little Christmas tree.  Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I think the Grinch is like a lot of people.  His heart appears to be 3 sizes too small but that is just because he doesn’t have anybody to share Christmas with.  Find a loved one to share Christmas with and I bet you will find that your heart is 3 sizes too big!

Frosty the Snowman

How many times did you build a snowman as a kid and wish that he would come to life.  It’s probably a good thing that he didn’t because how would you explain to him his short life span?

Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer

This is the ultimate claymation classic!  The origin of Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer.  Though the movie is about Rudolph, who can forget Herbie or Yukon Cornelius… or even a Charlie in a Box?

Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town

I didn’t realize that this calymation existed until I was 10 years old!   Shame on you CBS for not airing this fantastic story of Santa Claus.  If I remember correctly, this story goes from Santa’s birth up until the time he becomes Old Saint Nick.

Wow. Completely agree with all of choices. These were my favorites as a child and I still wait for them all to air - just as I did from the 60's on -smile-.

@Miss R Huh, by the time I watched them they were all classics ;-)

I agree on four of the five. I never been much of a fan of "Frosty the Snowman". I'd add "The Year Without a Santa Claus" even though that concept scares me.

There's a trio of old reliables that used to play on WGN, Channel 9 in Chicago. One was a black and white version of Frosty, which pre-dated the more famous one profiled here. The second was "Here Comes Suzie Snowflake", which featured similarly atrocious stop-motion animation as the B&W Frosty, and had a repetitious, infectious song that tended to lodge in your brain. The third, and my absolute fave, is "Hardrock, Coco, and Joe", the story of three mischievous elves who help make sure Santa makes all his stops - more despite their help than because of it.
If you get WGN Superstation on your cable/satellite, keep an eye out for a special called "Bozo, Gar, and Ray", a retrospective of 3 beloved Chicago children's shows. The 3 cartoons played on Garfield Goose. :D
By the by, I once heard that Rudolph's nose is actually a huge tumor protruding from his brain. No? ;)

Was the black and white Frosty the same story? Was he accepted as well as Barack Obama is now (was)?

Who the crap is Garfield Goose and why did he steal the cats name?

Rudolph is going to die

Here is the Garfield Goose and Friends theme song. Just hover over the little film icon.

I remember Garfield and Friends. Really odd that they would basically steal the name from the Goose.

I don't particularly like Christmas movies or cartoons as I'm not a celebrater of it. I guess I would have to identify with Scrooge from Charles Dickens Christmas Carol. Bah Humbug :-P

I understand. I grew up next to a kid who didn't celebrate it either.

I dig watching all those classic animated features. Nightmare Before Christmas.

I haven't seen Nightmare Brfore Christmas. I'll have to check it out sometime.

When I was a kid we only had 2 tv stations, you had to buy as subscription of one of them and the other one started the daily broadcast at 18:00.. Oh and there was no broadcasting on Thursdays :D

And now that you're not a kid? Does Iceland have more stations?

I have allot of catching up to do, I have only seen How the Grinch Stole Christmas :(

CBS isn't doing a very good job of broadcasting Christmas movies in Iceland. :-(

You've never seen a Charlie Brown Christmas? Poor Hjörtur!

I agree with except for Frosty. They story is fine, but the poor quality animation always bus me. I'd replace it with A Wombie's Christmas.

Here it is!: A Wombie's Christmas

Who are those pointy-nosed freaks? And why are they impersonating us?

I am starting to think they didn't show The Year Without a Santa Claus in the south because I don't think I heard of it until this post.

The elder Frosty wasn't as slick a presentation, and hence didn't catch on like the Rankin Bass version.
I won't swear to it, but I believe the goose long pre-dated the cat. It was Garfield Goose with Frazier Thomas, who also presented "Family Classics" on Sunday afternoon, showing classic movies like "Moby Dick" with Gregory Peck, and sci-fi greats like "When Worlds Collide" and "Crack In The World".
I suggest a Wiki wander to gain further enlightenment! :D

Hmm... I don't know if I could pick a favorite
(I know, I know... my indecisiveness comes as a total surprise, right?)
Also... I don't think I have ever seen that last one
(is it worth checking out)?
:)

The last one is lengthy... or at least it seemed that way as a kid but I it is one of my favorites.

Partly because of the story but mainly because it hasn't been worn out like the rest.

I think you've pretty much nailed all of my favorite classics. Good job, Mel!

The Year Without A Santa Claus. You've gotta love the Heat Meiser. The guy lives in a volcano! We could use a little of his magic here on the east coast...it's freezing!

I had to go look this one up. I think I remember this. I wonder if it was made by the same people as the ones who made Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town? Looks very similar.

See I told you everyone likes the Heat Miser (even YAW who doesn't know how to spell it..haha)

Good thing her blog isn't called Young American Wisdom Now, otherwise you would have to call her Yawn and we all know that she is not :-)
