Not my choice of words if I won an Academy Award but these are the words that Sean Penn decided to use.

Here is how the Associated Press reports what happened back stage:

Backstage, when asked what he would tell those protesters if he could speak to them, Penn responded: “I’d tell them to turn in their hate card and find their better self.”

Who are these protesters?  Is it the ones who voted for Proposition 8?  I believe this is who he talking about because he mentions these voters when he was up on stage accepting his award.

Am I the only one who sees everything wrong with his accusations?  His argument is that if one votes for something this means they hate what they voted against.  This cannot be true for every voter.  I did not vote for Bush or Obama but this does not mean I hate them, it just means I disagree with most of their views.  Because one voted for prop 8 doesn’t mean that the voter hates homos (not my word choice – they were Penn’s).

And seriously, when was it acceptable to use the word homo?  I thought this was a prejudice slang word?  Sean Penn you need to understand that a vote for doesn’t mean hate.  Gay marriage was voted down in one of the most liberal states in America.  Why?  I don’t believe it was because of hate.  Sean Penn did you vote against Prop 8 because you are for gay marriage or did you vote against because you hate straight people?  See how that hate argument works both ways?
