Boston Red Sox’s Fan Makes Idiot Short-Term Decision to See the World Series

(I kind of get annoyed at how Upworthy tells you what to expect in each video that they post.  This is a new series of posts called Downworthy.  Enjoy or throw rocks, whichever.)

This amazing man makes a quick, non-considerate decision at second 6.  His boss follows through on the rules at second 8 and the loud, annoying friend screams, “IT’S BOSTON BABY!” at second 13.  At second “the next morning” this fan tries to figure out how he will pay his bills.

Barbara Bush Apologizes for Calling The Simpsons Dumb After Receiving a Moving Letter From Marge Simpson and 9 More Amazing Facts About The Simpsons!

(I kind of get annoyed at how Upworthy tells you what to expect in each video that they post.  This is a new series of posts called Downworthy.  Enjoy or throw rocks, whichever.)

Barbara Bush actually apologizes to fictionalized tv character Marge Simpson.  If Marge wrote you a letter you would be moved to apologies also.  As Marge always says, “Hmmmmmm.”

Brett Favre Turns Down the Rams, They Should Sign Tim Tebow

St. Louis Rams sign Tim Tebow

Brett FavreThe Rams organization lost their starting quarterback, Sam Bradford, for the season last Sunday.

The Rams will face hot Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football and they seem to be scurrying to find a starting quarterback.

They asked 44-year-old Brett Favre but he turned them down.  I am a Packer’s fan first but there are players that I enjoy watching.  I would have tuned into every Ram game for the rest of the season if Favre would have signed.

Sign Tim Tebow

Tim TebowTim Tebow is no Brett Favre mainly for the reason Tebow hasn’t been given much of an opportunity to play.

Another issue with Tebow is that he attracts a circus media frenzy!

Why?

Probably because you never know what kind of success you’ll get from Tebow but you do know that you will get somebody fired up to play.

Tebow never quits until the time runs off the clock.

He may not win many games but he can be exciting to watch.

Is Sallie Mae Incompetent?

Sallie Mae

If you are a young adult or the parent of one, please NEVER go into debt to Sallie Mae!

You may say, “I don’t have to worry because I will just pay off my debt one check at time.”

I send them one check at a time and for the last 4 months they have only cashed two of the 4 checks I sent them?

What happened to the other two checks?  Maybe they got lost in the mail.  Maybe they got lost at Sallie Mae.  I don’t know.

I do find it odd that my wife’s Sallie Mae checks arrive on time.  We were sending our bills in two different envelopes.

This past month I sent them both checks (with their account #’s) in the same envelope.

12 days later they are saying I am 37 days past due because they haven’t received the past two months.

Sallie Mae wants to talk to me on the phone.

I want them to cash the checks that I send them and apply it to my bill.

I have had to cancel two checks because they supposedly never receive them.  It cost me $25 dollars each time I cancel a check.

Can’t I just do auto-withdrawal?  I could but I have read too many horror stories about people doing this and getting into trouble.

Is Sallie Mae incompetent?  Are they receiving my checks and just not cashing them?  I don’t know but from the 1000’s of complaints found in a quick Google search I would say that it is not a very good business.

What is a Young Adult to do?

1. Pay your way through college.  Take semesters off just to save more money.  Don’t dilly dally on your major and change it 5 times in two years.  Explore what will make you the most fulfilled in life and go for it.

2. Choose an instate school and get a discount.

3. Do you even need schooling for the career you want?  If college isn’t a requirement then don’t go.

4. Never ever sign your soul to Sallie Mae

Maria Kang “What’s Your Excuse” Mom, is a Bully?

What's Your Excuse (bully)

Maria Kang posted this motivational image on her Facebook page a year ago.  It has since went viral and received negative feedback.

Kang is accused of being a bully.

She didn’t feel the need to respond until she received a hurtful email:

“It said I should be ashamed of myself and that I should take down my Facebook profile picture,” Kang said. “It said I’m a shame to women. It was deep and hurtful.”

I love what she had to say in response:

“What I WILL say is this. What you interpret is not MY fault. It’s Yours. The first step in owning your life, your body and your destiny is to OWN the thoughts that come out of your own head. I didn’t create them. You created them. So if you want to continue ‘hating’ this image, get used to hating many other things for the rest of your life. You can either blame, complain or obtain a new level of thought by challenging the negative words that come out of your own brain.

“With that said, obesity and those who struggle with health-related diseases is literally a ‘bigger’ issue than this photo. Maybe it’s time we stop tip-toeing around people’s feelings and get to the point.”

Who is the Bully Here?

Since when are motivational posters bullying?

Definition of bullying: “use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.”

Kang didn’t force any person to get off the couch and take hold of their life.

Kang was attempting to motivate people into action.  Bully’s don’t motivate, they force.

The Problem with Tolerance

Tolerance is a blurry idea.  People say we need to be accepting of others.  I think that is good.

The problem is when some of those same people begin to be hateful towards those they say should be tolerant.  In their quest for tolerance they become intolerant and they justify it by saying they have the correct, most logical view.

Motivation vs Bullying

Motivation: In high school my coach motivated me to be the best football player I could be by pointing out mistakes.  Once I understood my mistakes I could work on fixing them.

Bullying: In high school one of the popular kids made fun of me in class because his biceps were bigger than mine.  Which, naturally, they should have been because he was 3 inches taller than me.  His attitude toward me was not motivational.  He was just being a bully.

See the difference?

Meth-Like Substance Found in ‘Craze’ Workout Supplement

Craze Performance Fuel

There was a supplement that was sold over the counter that had an amphetamine type substance in it called Craze.

Craze Received Positive Reviews

Arnold Elis said: “I took 1.5 scoops and the effects were amazing i felt like beating the living sh** out of everyone. down side is that i got a horible headache and felt like puking. 10/10 for performance but the crash just puts it down.”

Casey Got Gogi said: “This is one of the most powerful pre-workout products I have ever taken. I work 12 hr shifts 6 days a week. This gives me the gas in the tank when I get off work to blast through anything.”

Ant said: “I went ahead and used 3 scoops for my first dose.  I have to say that I was blown away by the effects of this stuff.  It took around 30 minutes for it to ‘kick in.’  The energy and focus was unbelievable. I will have to give Craze a 10/10.  The only problem that I had was that I couldn’t sleep that night. That was completely my fault for taking 3 scoops and taking it around 5:00. I ended up staying awake until 3:00 am.”

Craze Really Works

But so does Meth.  It gives one energy but only temporarily.  The side effects can be permanent.

  • Increased heart rate
  • Disorganized lifestyle
  • Lowered resistance to illness
  • Liver damage
  • Convulsions
  • Extreme rise in body temperature, which can cause brain damage
  • Stroke
  • Death

Effects of Meth

Would Craze have caused this?  Maybe, maybe not.  There are people who take prescription meds for ADHD and as long as those are not abused, side effects aren’t nearly as bad, it may be the same with supplements.

Craze Was the New Ephedrine

Craze isn’t anything new.  10 years ago all the popular fat burners had a meth-like substance in them known as ephedrine.  A few people died (probably less than those taking prescription meds) and then the FDA pulled those supplements off the shelf.

USA Over Worked

It can be tempting to fuel up on things that speed us up but I think there is one reason we feel the need to do this.  We are overworked.

8 hour days are good enough.  Sundays off would be great.  30 days paid vacation should be a must.

hammock

Our culture needs to learn how to slow down.  If we were ever able to do that, then we may have less people resorting to meth-like substances to feel better.

The #1 Drink the United States Doesn’t Have

What is the best drink in the United States?

If you are a teenager it may be an energy drink such as Red Bull or Rock Star.

If you are 20 then it may be Keystone Light.

If you are in your 30’s then your taste might be more sophisticated, so French wine might be what you prefer.

If you have a high stressed job, then Pepto Bismol is what you desire.

There are a lot of different drinks one can consume in the United States.

But there is at least one drink that I can’t find unless I go to Germany.

Lift Apfel-SchorleWhat is that drink the United States needs?

Apfelschorle.

It is normally 60% apple juice mixed with carbonated mineral water.

The best tasting Apfelschorle I have drank is a product put out by Coca-Cola called Lift.

Is there a drink you have had that you enjoyed that you can’t find in the States?

Let us know in the comments.
